Ukrainian American Veterans Honor Metropolitan Stephan
The Brooklyn, New York Chapter of the Ukrainian American Veterans has honored our Metropolitan. Vladyka Stephan served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, serving in the medical corps. He was an honorably discharged veteran, making him the first Ukrainian bishop to serve in the United States military. His military training led to his secular position as Director of Special Services at a Chicago hospital and has been a large part of Vladyka's life.
Metropolitan Stephan served as a proud Ukrainian American in the armed forces of the United States of America and supports fully, the efforts of all Ukrainian American veterans as well as all Ukrainian veterans worldwide. Many of our Ukrainian brothers and sisters have given their life in order to secure freedom for all. We as Ukrainians must be proud and never forget them and their families, for without their sacrifice and dedication to our country, we may not be facing freedom as we see it today. May our Lord bless those who died in the line of duty and may their memory be eternal! + Vichnaya Pamyat'!
