Metropolitan Offers Prayer Before the House of Representatives
WASHINGTON, DC: His Beatitude, Metropolitan Stephan, Archbishop of New York and Primate of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the USA was the guest chaplain of the United States House of Representatives 107th. Congress on Thursday, April 26. His Beatitude was presented by Congressman John Baldacci of Maine and then offered the opening prayer for the day. After the prayer was concluded, Congressman Baldacci offered some words of thanks and spoke about His Beatitude's accomplishments, highlighting the many efforts the Metropolitan has made in behalf of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
During the rest of the day, His Beatitude and His Eminence, Archbishop Michael had the opportunity to meet with elected officials, including Congressman Gary Ackerman of New York's 5th. district. The hierarchs were accompanied by Paul Peter Jesep, Esq., Director of Public Affairs for the Metropolia.
