NEW EPARCHY ESTABLISHED FOR CANADA



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 11, 2002:

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Stephan has announced that a new eparchy has been created to serve the needs of the UAOC faithful in Canada. The new eparchy will comprise the territory of the former Canadian Deanery of the Archeparchy of Cleveland. With St. Elias Cathedral in Mississauga, Ontario as the new eparchial seat, Father Geroge Ayoub has been appointed by the Metropolitan as Vicar General (Protosyncellus) of the new eparchy.

In addition to his many responsibilities as Primate of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the USA, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Stephan will serve as the eparchial bishop (Ordinary) of the Canadian eparchy and will work closely with Father George, the eparchial clergy and lay leaders, in the organizational work required to see to the further growth of the church in Canada.

May God grant Metropolitan Stephan, Father Ayoub and all of the clergy and faithful of the UAOC Archeparchy of Canada, peace, health and happiness for many blessed years.
